Mobile Employment Solutions

TMI-Foundation

Synopsis

The ‘Job Connect’ initiative, launched by the Hyderabad City Police in collaboration with TMI Foundation Trust, addresses the employment challenges faced by job seekers in the city. It provides a mobile platform that connects individuals with local job opportunities, offering them a chance to apply and get placed in jobs, while simultaneously supporting awareness campaigns run by the police. The program was relaunched post-COVID-19 and has since made significant strides in helping people secure employment.

Situation

Before the launch of the ‘Job Connect’ initiative, many job seekers, particularly in low-income communities, struggled to find job opportunities or lacked awareness about available employment options. Additionally, micro, and small industries in Hyderabad faced challenges in recruiting skilled candidates, particularly for entry-level jobs with a basic monthly wage of Rs. 10,000 and above. The pandemic further intensified the job scarcity, leaving many unemployed individuals uncertain about their prospects.

Solution

‘Job Connect’ Van, launched in collaboration with the City Police and TMI Foundation Trust, offers a digital platform that matches job seekers with employment opportunities. The key components of the initiative include:

  • Employment Van: A mobile van that travels across the city, informing job seekers about available positions and helping them apply digitally.
  • Job Matching Platform: Employers list vacancies, which are then matched with candidate resumes. This technology-driven approach streamlines the process and ensures a better fit between job seekers and job providers.
  • Job Fairs: Monthly job fairs organized in collaboration with the City Police, providing local job seekers direct access to potential employers.
  • Police Collaboration: The police help in mobilizing local candidates by providing infrastructure and ensuring participation through police stations.

Impact

Since its relaunch in January 2021, ‘Job Connect’ has had a significant impact on employment in the city:

  • Jobseekers Enrolled: 1,15,266 individuals have registered for job opportunities.
  • Employers Registered: 449 employers have listed their job openings on the platform.
  • Vacancies Identified: 99,051 vacancies have been identified, opening up opportunities for job seekers across sectors.
  • Job Melas Conducted: 23 job fairs have been held, further connecting employers with candidates.
  • Job Offers Rolled Out: 16,161 job offers have been made, directly benefiting local job seekers.

The initiative has not only provided employment opportunities for many but also fostered a sense of community through collaboration with the police, making a tangible difference in the livelihoods of many individuals in Hyderabad.
